Job Description

Law degree from an accredited law school; admission to, and member in good standing of, the New York State Bar; and six years of relevant post-bar experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Bureau's Deputy Counsel should have experience litigating complex cases, preferably physician misconduct administrative hearings and appeals. The Deputy Counsel should be knowledgeable about Public Health Law §230 and Education Law §6530, and should have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Civil and/or criminal litigation experience would be beneficial. The Deputy Counsel needs to be able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and promptly and to interact appropriately with DOH administration, program staff, and other players.
