Job Description
Unity House of Troy is seeking to contract a Part-Time Psychiatrist or Medical Doctor to serve as Medical Director, providing clinical supervision and regulatory oversight across behavioral health services, including the OMH-licensed MHOTRS outpatient clinic and individuals receiving Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) services, including those served by the Unity House ACT Team.
This role focuses on supervising psychiatric care, supporting two Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (NPPs), and ensuring services are delivered in a trauma-informed, person-centered, and compliant manner. The Medical Director will work in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services to support coordinated care.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide supervision to two Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in accordance with New York State requirementsReview and co-sign documentation as requiredProvide consultation on complex cases, including diagnostic clarification and medication managementSupport appropriate prescribing practices and ongoing medication monitoringProvide psychiatric consultation and support for individuals on Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), to those served within the ACT teamPrepare clinical documentation required for AOT court processes, including affidavits and treatment summariesProvide testimony in court when appropriate to support AOT proceedingsReview and sign off on treatment plans as requiredParticipate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and case discussionsSupport coordination between prescribers and clinical teamsSupport a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and client-centered approach to careReinforce non-judgmental, evidence-based treatment practicesQualificationsMD or DOActive New York State medical license (or ability to obtain)DEA registrationExperience supervising Nurse Practitioners preferredExperience working with individuals with serious mental illness and those involved in Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT), ACT, or similar community-based behavioral health programs requiredCommitment to trauma-informed, person-centered, and collaborative careBenefits13 paid days off in your first year for full time employment (increases every year)56 hours of NYS Sick Leave12 paid holidays now with a new pop-up holiday! plus 2 floating holidaysMajor medical leave Medical/dental/vision/life insurance403b contributions after one year Plus, gym, tuition and cell phone discounts and a 50% reduction in childcare tuition at A Child's Place.
