Summary:
Serves as primary contact for Emergency Medicine, Trauma Team and Life Flight patients for resolution of issues related to scheduling, registration, benefits verification and payor preauthorization. Responds as a member of the Trauma Activation Team responsible for obtaining and verifying patient information. Integrates the functions of registration, benefits verification, and payor preauthorization as well as payment arrangements and cash collection with outpatient and Life Flight services utilization in order to achieve optimal reimbursement for The MetroHealth System. Upholds the standards of the system-wide customer service program.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school graduate or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Ability to read, write, and speak English in a professional manner. Minimum 3 years experience in insurance information collection and assessment, benefits verification and preauthorization processing. Demonstrated skills in customer service, collection of patient demographic and insurance/payor information, and cash collection. Expertise in interviewing patients/family members. Knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred:
Previous experience with computer-based billing systems. Proof of completion of a medical terminology course from a recognized healthcare program. Previous experience in an Emergency Department.
