Job Description
This Independent Contractor position will support the organization for 10-15 hours per month. In-office and remote work would be available. Who We Are This organization is a well established behavioral health organization Southern Arizona. Job Summary Under the administrative direction of the Head of Behavioral Health, the Medical Director, holds a high-visibility role overseeing our medical team and directing systems, strategies, and processes to maximize positive health outcomes. This position will oversee the provision and delivery of our behavioral health treatment model. In addition, provides professional medical services and other related work as appropriate and designated by the Executive Director. The Medical Director is responsible for compliance with all medical practices, policies, rules and regulations, and clinical performance standards of the state and federal government. Essential Duties Works with the regional health plans and organization medical staff to ensure administration and delivery of high-quality, medically appropriate care. Utilizes the organization's EHR system and e-prescribing platform. Maintains psychiatric oversight in emergency services and acute care services (admission and discharge decisions, level of care determinations, and direct supervision of care). Ensures psychiatric coordination of care in outpatient and residential services through leadership and participation in regular interdisciplinary team case reviews. Coordinates with other medical providers, specifically primary-care physicians, to provide high-quality health care and delivery of services. Maintains direct involvement in the quality management and utilization management processes, adapting to changes in processes and procedures as necessary. Supports and coordinates with the organization's Medical Coordinator in the administration of scheduling psychiatric appointments and managing medication needs, including prescribing and refilling prescriptions as needed. Participates in the peer review process. Attends monthly Medical Staff meetings Oversees and manages medical staff. The Medical Director is an active member of the medical staff and shall be clinically responsible for ensuring all patients are receiving clinically sound care.
Requirements:
Doctorate of Medicine with specialty in psychiatry 5 years of experience in a clinical, academic, or administrative capacity required. Strong community and public health orientation and experience in patient care required. Knowledge of the child and adolescent development spectrum. Knowledge of existing community based and family centered behavioral health services. Knowledge of and experience with administrative operations, process, and procedures involving leadership, supervision, and employee professional development. Must be able to meet training and agency requirements for the position. Must possess or be able to qualify for and maintain a valid Arizona department of public safety level one fingerprint clearance card.
