This role combines clinical leadership with direct patient care and provides an opportunity to help build a high-quality, patient-centered practice from the ground up. The Medical Director will provide physician oversight, clinical guidance, quality assurance, and support for advanced practice providers while maintaining an active clinical presence through patient care visits in the practice. Initially, the Medical Director will provide direct patient care for a minimum of two half-day clinic sessions per month and will be available for consultation and collaboration as needed. Medical Director Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for the practice. Collaborate with practice leadership to establish clinical policies, protocols, and standards of care. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local healthcare regulations. Support quality improvement initiatives and population health management programs. Participate in chart reviews, peer review activities, and quality assurance processes. Provide consultation and guidance to nurse practitioners and clinical staff. Assist with development and implementation of evidence-based clinical workflows. Support accreditation, credentialing, and regulatory readiness activities. Serve as the physician representative for clinical matters and practice development initiatives. Foster a culture of patient safety, professionalism, and clinical excellence. Participate in Clinic Outreach activities Clinical Responsibilities Provide comprehensive primary care services, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and acute care treatment. Perform patient assessments, examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Review laboratory and diagnostic testing results. Collaborate with advanced practice providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care. Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in care coordination and patient engagement efforts. QualificationsRequired MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Current unrestricted medical license in AZ. DEA registration and unrestricted prescribing authority. Minimum of 1 years of clinical experience in primary care. Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or medical directorship experience. Strong knowledge of quality improvement, clinical governance, and regulatory compliance. Preferred Previous experience serving as a Medical Director or supervising physician. Experience launching or supporting startup healthcare practices. Familiarity with value-based care, population health management, and quality reporting programs. Experience supervising nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Schedule and Time Commitment Minimum of two half-day clinic sessions per month providing direct patient care. Availability for provider consultation and clinical oversight between scheduled clinic sessions. Participation in periodic leadership meetings, quality reviews, and policy development activities.
