Extension:
Up to 4 additional 1-year renewals Operational Medical Director (OMD) to provide clinical oversight and leadership for its Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and effective EMS operations , while supporting training, protocol development, and emergency response readiness. Purpose of the Role Oversee EMS clinical operations Ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards Improve patient care quality and outcomes Provide medical leadership and consultation Key Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Compliance Review and oversee EMS policies, SOPs, and protocols Ensure compliance with Virginia Office of EMS (VAOEMS) standards Provide medical direction and clinical governance Quality Assurance & Reporting Review electronic Patient Care Reports ( ePCR ) regularly Monitor EMS provider performance and patient care quality Submit quarterly reports to management Training & Leadership Attend and contribute to monthly EMS meetings and training programs Support continuing education and skill evaluation Provide leadership and medical consultation to EMS teams Emergency Support Provide medical protocols during emergency situations Act as on-line medical control during critical events Occasionally provide direct patient care and field supervision Collaboration Work closely with EMS leadership and County stakeholders Support program goals, compliance, and operational improvements Work Model & Schedule No fixed working hours (on-demand engagement) Monthly meetings required Hybrid model (remote with occasional onsite presence) Required Qualifications Medical Degree (MBBS / MD or equivalent) Active and valid Virginia Medical License (Mandatory) Experience in: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Clinical leadership or medical directorship Strong knowledge of EMS protocols and regulatory compliance Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as an Operational Medical Director Experience working with Fire & EMS departments Leadership roles within medical or EMS organizations Experience with: Quality assurance programs Training and education initiatives Core Skills EMS Clinical Oversight Medical Leadership & Governance Patient Care Quality Improvement Regulatory Compliance (VAOEMS) Emergency Response Support Stakeholder Collaboration Scope of Work (Summary) Review EMS protocols and policies Monitor patient care (ePCR) Attend meetings & training sessions Provide medical consultation Submit quarterly reports Support emergencies Occasionally provide direct patient care
