Job Summary Dir Medical Staff Services plans, directs, and coordinates credentialing and medical staff functions at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH). Credentialing is the process of obtaining, verifying, and assessing clinician qualifications to provide patient care in BSWH hospitals, clinics, and ambulatory care facilities. Dir Medical Staff Services develops and establishes policies, bylaws, procedures, and practices related to credentialing and medical staff practices. Dir Medical Staff Services monitors policy implementation, communication, and compliance. Dir Medical Staff Services identifies and implements credentialing improvements, such as best practices, standardized processes, technology solutions, and collaborative tools. Dir Medical Staff Services ensures that credentialing and medical staff processes follow all legal, accreditation, standards, and regulatory requirements. Dir Medical Staff Services collaborates with senior leadership, chief medical officers (CMO), and hospital administration. Dir Medical Staff Services helps develop standardized and consistent credentialing and peer review processes and practices. Dir Medical Staff Services develops and implements improvement strategies, goals, standards, and metrics. These ensure efficient and cost-effective credentialing and medical staff processes that align with BSWH business objectives. An entity Director translates and implements strategic plans and goals for their area. Makes final judgments on operational matters and ensures goals are met. Recommends policies and organizational changes for the area. Plans and executes projects and initiatives that meet annual goals. Plans and directs department operations, with responsibility for staffing, processes, budgets, and costs. Guides and advises subordinates to meet schedules, resolve technical problems, and monitor performance. Oversees a larger, more complex organization or area than a manager. Often has one or more managers or supervisors reporting to the role. Essential Functions of the Role Directs credentialing and medical staff services for assigned area of responsibility for BSWH. Recommends and implements strategic and operational plans and priorities for medical staff services aligned to BSWH overall business goals. Directs the credentialing and re-credentialing activities for the medical staff, advanced practice professionals and allied health professionals for assigned area. Collaborates with senior leadership, medical staff, and other stakeholders to organize and standardize credentialing and medical staff functions. Works within the assigned area and across BSWH. Directs daily medical staff services, including prioritization, responding to inquiries, resolving issues, assigning work, and maximizing operational efficiencies. Guides and consults on regulatory requirements and standards as they relate to medical staff services, credentialing, privileging, and peer review. Develops and implements policies, procedures and processes for medical staff functions that adhere to applicable standards, regulations, and requirements. Manages the development and maintenance of medical staff reporting, credentialing database, and software utilization. Directs the preparation of presentations, agendas, and reporting for on-going board, committee, and department meetings as required. Communicates often with senior leadership, medical staff, and other stakeholders about medical staff guidelines, processes, and call schedules. Also discusses other medical staff coordination efforts for the assigned area. Key Success Factors Bachelor's degree in health care administration, business, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in medical staff services, centralized verification, or related area. Experience in a leadership role preferred. Professional certification preferred, such as Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Experience in an acute care hospital or academic medical center with multi-facility setting preferred. Experience working with medical staff bylaws, regulatory standards, credentialing procedures, and accreditation standards of The Joint Commission and NCQA. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, clinicians, and senior leadership. Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. •Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification, Bachelor's highly preferred
