$15,000 Overview A high-performing Emergency Department in San Antonio is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to oversee clinical operations, staffing strategy, patient throughput, quality initiatives, and operational performance within a busy acute care emergency environment. This executive nursing leadership role supports one of the busiest downtown emergency departments in the region and is responsible for driving patient experience, operational efficiency, emergency services growth initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaboration across a fast-paced hospital setting. The ideal candidate is an experienced emergency services leader with strong operational management skills, physician relationship management experience, and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a high-volume acute care environment. Emergency Department Overview 378-bed acute care hospital 29 Emergency Department beds Expansion plans currently underway Level IV Trauma designation Approximately 50,000 annual ED visits Average daily volume: 136 patients/day Chest Pain Center Accredited Approximately 100 ED staff members Leadership structure includes: 2 ED Managers CNCs EMS Technicians Reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Strong patient experience and employee engagement metrics High-performing sepsis and quality outcomes programs Responsibilities Oversee all Emergency Department operational, staffing, and clinical service functions Lead patient throughput initiatives, admission/discharge coordination, and emergency services workflow optimization Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and evidence-based emergency care practices Collaborate with physicians, executive leadership, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support operational goals and patient care excellence Support departmental budgeting, staffing productivity, labor management, and operational forecasting Develop and implement emergency services policies, procedures, and operational standards Lead employee engagement, retention, mentoring, and leadership development initiatives Monitor patient satisfaction metrics and implement strategies to improve patient experience outcomes Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and emergency services best practices Support emergency department growth strategies and service line expansion initiatives Qualifications Required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Active RN license Minimum 1 year of applicable Emergency Department leadership experience Strong operational leadership and multidisciplinary team management skills Experience with staffing, throughput, quality improvement, and physician collaboration Preferred Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field 3+ years of Emergency Services leadership experience Experience leading high-volume Emergency Departments Strong patient experience and operational analytics background Compensation & Benefits Competitive executive-level compensation package Annual incentive bonus opportunity $20,000 sign-on bonus $15,000 relocation assistance Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) with company match Tuition assistance and leadership development support Paid family leave eligibility Employee wellness and mental health resources Executive advancement opportunities within hospital operations leadership Ideal For This role is ideal for experienced ED Directors, Assistant Emergency Department Directors, or Emergency Services Managers seeking executive operational leadership within a growing, high-volume emergency care environment focused on patient experience, quality outcomes, and operational excellence.
