Role & Responsibilities:
Ensure minimum four (4) LCSWs or LPCs provide on-site mental health assessments 40 hrs/week and 16 hrs on weekends (per Attachment N), on emergency call 24/7. Provide telehealth evaluations, in-person evaluation, and intervention as needed. Coordinate with NSO for implementation of recommended safety plans. Supervise Nurse Practitioner of Mental Health and mental health professionals. Ensure psychiatrist available minimum 16 hours per week. Provide mental health services support to inmates. Inform Norfolk Community Services Board (NCSB) of current, past, and new clients needing outpatient services. Ensure NCSB liaison allowed to interview all clients. Ensure staff trained on symptoms and treatment of suicidal/homicidal inmates. Establish policies for on-site treatment and referral of suicidal/homicidal inmates. Ensure qualified mental health personnel perform rounds on isolated inmates minimum once per day. Alert NSO for mental/medical evaluation if inmate unable to communicate verbally. Report unusual findings immediately to post control deputy Maintain record of rounds with clinical encounters in medical record Ensure physical and mental health assessment of isolation inmates every 15 calendar days. Ensure mental health assessment every 15 calendar days by Licensed Clinical Therapist. Submit weekly report on suicides, suicide attempts, psychotropic medication, psychiatrist visits, inmates interviewed/evaluated, and NCSB interviews.
Qualifications:
Mental health clinician licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia Minimum three (3) years' experience in correctional mental health care or comparable environment (public health, urgent care, or indigent care)
