Job Description

Department Director/Emergency The Emergency Department Assistant Director has the accountability for clinical and professional development of the nursing staff in the ED. In addition, the Assistant Director has the accountability and authority for the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, coordinating and facilitating the provision of quality inpatient and outpatient care and service. He/she collaborates in providing quality patient care, oversees staff performance, systems improvement, clinical oversight and instruction, collaborates with members of the multi-disciplinary health care team to oversee and continually improve patient care systems and processes. He/she participates in setting and implementing ED goals, priorities and strategies, assists in budget development and manages to budget after approval. He/she maintains a high level of internal visibility and is responsible for development and ongoing supervision of the staff.
Requirements:
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required. Master's in Nursing (MSN) preferred or obtained within 2 years of employment. Five years of nursing experience including 2 to 3 years of progressively responsible management or leadership experience and 3 years of clinical experience in Emergency care. Valid Vermont State RN license required by date of hire. Health Care Provider BLS certification required with 90 days of hire. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS verification required. PALS and TNCC required. CEN within 5 years of hire.
