Job Description

The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing and generating accurate, high-quality treatment plans based on physician prescriptions. This includes utilizing a variety of technologies and planning techniques such as 3D conformal, IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and particle therapy, when applicable. The dosimetrist works collaboratively with the Radiation Oncologist and Physicist to ensure optimal dose distribution and patient safety. The medical dosimetrist is responsible for completing image fusions, contouring, plan development, and plan evaluation. The role requires a strong understanding of anatomical structures, radiation physics, and computer-based planning systems, as well as the ability to interpret clinical protocols. The dosimetrist is expected to apply mathematical, spatial, and analytical reasoning in a dynamic clinical setting, often participating in treatment plan quality assurance, patient setup consultations, and plan implementation coordination with radiation therapists. Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Sciences, Physical Sciences, Physics, Medical Physics, or a related field AND Graduation from a JRCERT-accredited Medical Dosimetry program (minimum 12-month duration) OR equivalent pathway for MDCB eligibility as defined prior to January 2017 . One to two years of clinical experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) preferred. Additional on-the-job training may be required to gain proficiency in specific institutional systems, protocols, and workflows. Current certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB), or Board eligibility with the expectation to achieve CMD certification within two (2) years, from date of hire
