JOB DUTIES
Understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and physics to deriveputerized treatment plans andmunicate these aspects to the Radiation Oncologist for plan approval and to the Radiation Therapists for plan implementation. Accurately records charges for services and materials used or delegating charges to be recorded. Demonstrates proper use and care of the radiation therapy equipment, simulating treatment equipment, and block set up (if applicable). Demonstrates a high degree ofpetence and professionalism in performing responsibilities.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: Bachelor of Science degree required. Must havepleted or be in the process ofpleting a formal medical dosimetry program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), or foreign equivalent, and be eligible for graduation upon programpletion. Must hold or be eligible to obtain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (T) certification and Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice. Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification or eligibility is required. Successfulpletion of CMD certification is required within three (3) years of hire. Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory er Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years tafter. Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date. Must have experience in radiation therapy. Ability to read andmunicate effectively in English. Possess strong mathematical skills and be able to visualize objects in 3-dimensional concepts to facilitate planning process. Must be able to work under pressure due to fluctuating workloads and deadlines. High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others. Ability tomunicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team. Strongputer knowledge Technical skills associated with duties listed within this job description. Must bepetent in all assigned areas.
