About us Applewood has been dedicated to caring for the Valley's pets since 1992 and is proud to set the standard for pet care. The needs of our clients' beloved furry family members are of the utmost importance to us and we take their care and play very seriously. Our first priority is to ensure they have a tail-wagging good stay, each and every time they visit. Whether clients are headed away on an extended vacation or just off to work for the day, they leave their pet with us knowing that they will be loved and cared for in their absence. All our guests enjoy customized services, with a variety of options for full-service Boarding, Daycare, and Grooming and a variety of options and amenities designed to match their lifestyle. The client's peace of mind that their pet is well loved and cared for is our goal here at Applewood Pet Resort. We're looking for a Front Desk Manager (FDM) who is independent and self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The FDM at our company works at the front desk, side-by-side with our team of receptionists to give our clients the highest quality customer service while also maintaining regular communication with the company's other departments to ensure our clients' pets receive the highest quality care in accordance with our clients' specifications. Our FDM works shifts as long as ten hours and works 5 days a week (45 to 50 hours). Responsibilities At the front desk, the FDM works with the receptionists to: Answer phones with a smile Make appointments for daycare, boarding, & grooming Process paperwork for all guests Give tours to potential clients, presenting contracts and upselling amenities Handle money and payment processing Handle dogs (of all sizes), cats and other small animals Escort pets to their rooms on arrival and back to the lobby upon departure Open doors for clients/guests Keep lobby clean and welcoming Clean up after pets when necessary In addition, the FDM will: Oversee 6-7 receptionists Onboard and train new front desk receptionists Address and resolve client complaints in a timely manner Maintain communication with other departments (kennel staff, groomers, upper management, & Applewood Animal Hospital next-door) Maintain communication with clients regarding their pets in our care in medical emergencies and worse case scenarios Oversee transportation of pets in need of medical care Brainstorm and implement new front desk policies and processes as necessary Oversee booking cut-offs (for boarding & grooming) Order and maintain retail inventory (dog/cat food, treats, toys, and other pet supplies) Experience We're looking for an FDM that has prior experience in: Customer service The pet industry Veterinary medicine Leadership/management Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. (ex. large bag of dog food, small dogs, large cat in carrier, etc.) Grip tightly with both hands and withstand resistance of 100+ pounds. (ex. escort excited, pulling dogs to their rooms.) Walk at a quick pace at least 5 miles a day (spread out over a 10 hour shift). Move from a sitting position to a standing position or vice versa quickly and regularly. Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and read information on a computer screen and paper; To clip or unclip a leash from a collar or harness; To click or buckle a collar and/or harness on an excitable, jumping dog; etc. Hear and speak to customers and co-workers in a loud environment (ex. many barking dogs, multiple blow dryers in bathing room). Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, as well as reach out to grab with both hands.
