In this vital role, you will oversee daily shelter operations, manage staff and volunteers, and ensure the highest standards of animal welfare. Your leadership will foster a compassionate environment where animals receive exceptional care, and community members are engaged and supported. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and people alike. Duties Supervise all aspects of shelter operations, including intake, adoption, and foster programs Lead and motivate staff and volunteers to deliver outstanding pet care and customer service Oversee animal handling, restraint, grooming, and training to ensure safety and well-being Coordinate veterinary services, including veterinary technician tasks, medical treatments, and health assessments Manage facility maintenance, including heavy lifting tasks related to kennel cleaning, supplies stocking, and equipment upkeep Develop community outreach initiatives such as pet training workshops, educational programs, and pet sitting services Ensure compliance with local regulations, licensing requirements, and safety protocols for animal handling Qualifications Proven leadership experience in an animal shelter or veterinary environment with strong organizational skills Extensive knowledge of animal care practices, including dog training, handling, restraint techniques, and veterinary procedures Experience working with veterinary technicians or veterinary assistants is highly desirable Skilled in pet grooming, pet sitting, and kennel management to support diverse shelter needs Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the public and team members Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking Prior experience in animal handling, dog training, or veterinary assistance is preferred to ensure comprehensive oversight of shelter operations
Pay:
$71,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
