$80,000 - $85,000 Annually The San Francisco Zoological Society("Society") is a non-profit institution that manages and raises funds for SanFrancisco Zoo and Gardens ("Zoo"). TheSociety's mission, supra, is summarizedas the 3 c's: to connect ourvisitors with wildlife so that they care about nature and ultimately conserve it. The Society's leadership team iscomprised of a President & Executive Director as well as a professionalteam of Senior Managers. The Society endeavors to meet or exceed the standardsof its industry peers, including those established by the Association of Zoos& Aquariums ("AZA"). For over 25 years, the Society has been continuouslyaccredited by the
AZA. SUMMARY
: The Zoo HospitalManager partners with the EVP of Animal Health and Welfare to provideoutstanding service by facilitating medical staff needs of scheduling,equipment and facilities maintenance and daily hospital operations. TheHospital Manager performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex activitiesrelated to: delivering high quality animal care and excellent Animal Divisionservice; managing the budget and accounting; promoting efficiency, integrity, readiness,and resiliency for the animal health team; hospital staffing and interfacingwith human resources; and discretionary activities that serve to supporteffective veterinary operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manages veterinary technician and hospital administrative staff. Ensures scheduling for all planned medical procedures. Oversees requests to hospital to ensure appropriate allocation of personnel resources to each need. Promotes skills development and technical training for veterinary technicians and hospital administrative staff. Ensures physical facility maintenance through collaboration with the Zoo's Operations Team. Maintains hospital equipment. Manages Hospital budget and contracts. Oversees the acquisition of all hospital supplies, medicines, drugs, laboratory testing and other diagnostics. Monitors and ensures hospital and hospital staff compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies. Supports standards and practices of AZA and accreditation bodies. Promotes a culture of safety. Coordinates the requests of documents from other organizations and the preparation of documents to be issued to other organizations. Manages the flow of internal and external communications while promoting collaboration across teams. Oversees drug and medical inventory and monitors controlled substance log. Maintains a high degree of organization and handles multiple priorities at any given time. Upholds the Society's mission, core values and other policies/procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and elsewhere. Upholds the hospital's goals of respect, integrity, and collaboration. Interacts with Zoo staff and visitors courteously and offers proper attention at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
Bachelor's degreein science, business management, or a related field
EXPERIENCE
Minimum fiveyears of professional experience in a veterinary medicine practice, including threeyears in a managerial role and proven leadership ability. Additional work experience may be substitutedfor the education requirement.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATES
RVT, CVT, and/or CertifiedVeterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) preferred. A clean, valid Driver's license.
