This role combines clinical expertise with leadership, focusing on staff management, operational efficiency, training, and the delivery of exceptional patient care. The Manager ensures the technician team is supported, accountable, and consistently aligned with hospital standards and protocols. Key Responsibilities Supervise, lead, and support a team of veterinary technicians and assistants in a fast-paced emergency environment Oversee scheduling, staffing levels, and shift assignments to ensure appropriate coverage at all times Provide direct shift coverage as needed, including filling open shifts, supporting high caseload periods, and assisting during staffing shortages Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain qualified technician staff Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary Develop and maintain training programs in collaboration with trainers and leadership Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, medical standards, and regulatory requirements Partner with veterinarians to optimize workflow, case management, and patient outcomes Monitor inventory, equipment usage, and supply levels in collaboration with hospital leadership Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and care quality Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture Address client service concerns related to technician care in a professional and timely manner Additional Duties as assigned Qualifications Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) preferred Minimum of 2+ years of experience in emergency and/or critical care veterinary medicine Previous leadership or management experience required Strong clinical knowledge of emergency procedures, anesthesia, and critical care Proven ability to lead teams in high-stress, fast-paced environments Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under pressure Preferred Skills Experience managing schedules, staffing models, and team performance metrics Background in training, mentorship, or staff development Certification in veterinary emergency and critical care (e.g., VTS-ECC) Familiarity with inventory management and budgeting processes Proficiency in electronic medical record systems Physical Requirements Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and holiday pay Continuing education and professional development support Opportunities for career growth and leadership development Supportive and collaborative team environment
