This position is responsible for coordinating staffing coverage, leading onboarding and training initiatives, overseeing inventory and equipment maintenance, and providing direct clinical support as needed. This role is designed to enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance with clinical standards, and alleviate administrative burden from clinical leadership, allowing for greater focus on patient care, provider support, and departmental growth. Key Responsibilities 1. Staffing & Coverage Coordination Coordinate and manage daily dental assistant assignments across multiple sites Provide coverage for call-outs and last-minute staffing gaps Collaborate with the Practice Administrator and Dental Director to optimize scheduling and workflow efficiency 2. Training & Onboarding Lead onboarding and orientation for all new dental assistants Develop and standardize training protocols, workflows, and competency benchmarks Ensure adherence to infection control standards and clinical protocols Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback 3. Inventory & Ordering Oversight Oversee and centralize dental supply ordering across all Dental locations Maintain appropriate inventory levels (par levels) to prevent shortages or overstocking Collaborate with vendors to manage costs and improve operational efficiency Coordinate equipment maintenance schedules and manage purchase orders (including entry into Baseware) 4. Clinical Support| Provide chair-side and operational support across all sites as needed Conduct Environment of Care (EOC) rounding across all Dental locations Perform routine waterline maintenance, including shocking and testing, at all dental sites Support hygienists and providers by assisting with patient flow, including: Taking radiographs for early arriving patient Preparing and breaking down treatment rooms Seating patients and ensuring timely care delivery Communication & Leadership Serve as a liaison between dental assistants, providers, and leadership Escalate operational or clinical concerns to the Dental Director and Practice Administrator as appropriate Promote a positive work environment, fostering team engagement, accountability, and morale
Required Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma/GED required. Certificate from an accredited Dental Assisting Program required. Current CDA Certificate.
Experience:
Previous Dental Assisting experience preferred. Familiarity with EPIC system is highly desirable.
