Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Small Animal Manager to join our team in a hands-on leadership role . This is not a desk-based management position—this is a working manager who leads from the floor, supports the team in real time, and steps in wherever needed, whether on the phone, in the exam room, or assisting in surgery. You'll be leading a close-knit team of approximately 15 team members , playing a key role in shaping both the patient experience and the team culture as we continue our mission to redefine excellence in veterinary medicine. About the Role The Small Animal Manager oversees the daily operations of the small animal department while actively participating in patient care and team support. This leader sets the tone for excellence by modeling accountability, adaptability, and a team-first mindset. Key Responsibilities Lead by example as a hands-on team member , stepping in to assist wherever needed (phones, rooms, treatment area, surgery) Oversee daily operations to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality patient care Uphold and advance clinical and operational standards aligned with our mission Mentor, support, and develop veterinary staff and technicians Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture across a team of ~15 Address staff concerns and guide effective, solution-oriented problem-solving Partner with leadership to refine protocols, improve processes, and elevate care standards What We're Looking For Experience in veterinary medicine required; leadership experience strongly preferred A team-first leader who is comfortable jumping in and working alongside staff in all areas of the clinic Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on connection and trust-building Proven ability to uphold high standards while supporting and motivating a team Organized, dependable, and solutions-driven mindset Passion for delivering exceptional patient care and advancing veterinary medicine Benefits & Perks Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer matching Short- and long-term disability insurance Life insurance Paid time off (PTO) Production-based incentives Employee pet care discount Uniform allowance SmartDollar financial wellness program Catered lunches on Fridays (and more!)
