A well-established, mission-driven healthcare organization in the Boston area is seeking an experienced Director of Dental Services to lead a growing dental program while continuing to provide direct patient care. This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative dental leader who enjoys mentoring clinicians, advancing quality initiatives, and expanding access to care. In addition to leading an experienced dental team, you'll play an integral role in supervising and developing limited-license and internationally trained dentists, helping them successfully transition into independent clinical practice while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. This position is approximately 80% clinical and 20% administrative, making it ideal for a leader who wants to remain hands-on while helping shape the future of a growing dental program.
What You'll Lead:
Provide clinical leadership and supervision for dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and support staff. Mentor and supervise limited-license and internationally trained dentists, providing clinical guidance, feedback, and professional development. Foster a culture of collaboration, clinical excellence, and continuous learning. Recruit, interview, onboard, coach, and evaluate dental providers and clinical staff. Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, operational improvements, and program growth. Establish and monitor clinical quality standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory compliance. Monitor patient satisfaction, productivity, and quality outcomes while implementing continuous improvement initiatives. Represent the dental program with community partners, professional organizations, and external stakeholders. Maintain an active patient schedule while supporting complex clinical cases.
What You'll Bring:
DDS or DMD with an active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Massachusetts. Current DEA registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain before start Minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical dentistry experience. Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a dental practice, community health center, academic institution, or similar clinical setting. Experience mentoring or supervising dentists, residents, limited-license dentists, or internationally trained dentists strongly preferred. Strong understanding of quality improvement, evidence-based dentistry, and regulatory compliance. Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Passion for improving access to high-quality oral healthcare for diverse communities.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
This role offers far more than practice leadership. You'll have the opportunity to influence the future of a growing dental program, mentor the next generation of providers, and help expand access to high-quality oral healthcare for underserved communities. If you're looking for a position where you can continue practicing while making a lasting impact through leadership, education, and mentorship, we'd love to hear from you. #indhp
