Full Job Description Job Summary:
The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board (NCVMB) is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Veterinary Standards Specialist to support the Board's mission of protecting the public by ensuring the safe, ethical, and professional practice of veterinary medicine throughout North Carolina. This position assists with monitoring compliance with state laws, administrative rules, and professional standards governing licensed veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and veterinary facilities. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of veterinary practice standards, regulatory compliance, and excellent organizational and communication skills. This role works closely with Board staff, inspectors, licensees, and the public to promote high standards of veterinary care.
Key Responsibilities:
Review veterinary facility documentation and records for compliance with Board regulations. Assist with inspections of veterinary hospitals and clinics to verify adherence to facility and practice standards. Evaluate compliance with professional standards, licensing requirements, and continuing education regulations. Support investigations by gathering documentation and preparing case materials for Board review. Maintain accurate regulatory records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation. Respond to inquiries from veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and the public regarding Board rules and standards. Assist in developing educational materials and guidance documents related to regulatory requirements. Monitor updates to veterinary laws, administrative rules, and professional standards. Collaborate with Board staff to improve regulatory processes and compliance initiatives. Perform additional administrative and regulatory duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Biology, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in veterinary practice, veterinary regulation, healthcare compliance, or quality assurance. Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and professional practice standards. Familiarity with regulatory compliance, inspections, or licensing processes is preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic records management systems. Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
Pay:
$36.00 - $42.00 per hour
