Help Build the Future of a Hospital. Longleaf Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Hospital Operations Manager to help lead our team into the next phase of growth. This is not a traditional veterinary management position. We are looking for a proven leader who is passionate about developing people, building systems, improving efficiency, and creating a culture of accountability and excellence. What You'll Do As our Hospital Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily operation of the hospital and provide leadership to all non-doctor support staff.
Responsibilities include:
Supervise veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, receptionists, kennel attendants, pet boutique staff, and support personnel. Lead employee onboarding, orientation, coaching, and professional development. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and accountability. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures. Improve hospital workflows, efficiency, and operational consistency. Coordinate employee training and continuing education. Foster a positive culture built on teamwork, professionalism, and accountability. Lead staff meetings and departmental communication. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, OSHA standards, DEA requirements, and safety procedures. Partner with the Practice Manager on recruiting, staffing, scheduling, and long-term operational planning. Assist with inventory oversight and quality assurance initiatives. Monitor medical record quality and operational compliance. Help create an exceptional experience for every patient and every client. Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, or CVT) license in good standing or ability to obtain North Carolina licensure prior to employment. Minimum of five years of experience in companion animal veterinary medicine. Minimum of two years of experience as a Lead Veterinary Technician, Technician Supervisor, or comparable veterinary leadership role with direct supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrated success supervising, coaching, mentoring, and developing veterinary support staff. Strong technical proficiency in anesthesia, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, nursing care, and hospital workflow. Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures. Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Experience using veterinary practice management software. Cornerstone experience is preferred. Ability to lead with integrity while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Veterinary Technology, Management, or a related field. Experience managing multiple departments within a veterinary hospital. Experience with recruiting, onboarding, performance evaluations, and employee development. Experience with inventory management, quality assurance, and workflow improvement. Working knowledge of OSHA, DEA, and veterinary regulatory compliance.
