Job Description
Position Summary:
The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the technician team, ensuring high-quality patient care, and supporting a collaborative, efficient clinical environment. This role combines hands-on technical duties with leadership responsibilities, including staff supervision, training, and workflow management. You will help facilitate open communication within the team as well as with referring hospitals and veterinarians to ensure seamless patient care and client experience. This position blends technical responsibilities with open communication and is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership Lead by example by providing direct patient care, including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, diagnostics, and treatments. Work closely with management to create and ensure adherence to hospital protocols, safety standards, and best practices. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for veterinary technicians and client service representatives. Oversee daily workflow, patient flow, and task delegation. Identify and address inefficiencies to improve hospital operations. Team Supervision, Development & Culture Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment. Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and client service representatives to ensure clear communication and top tier patient care. Be inviting and supervise, support, and evaluate technician staff. Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching and development for team members. Uphold employee handbook. Client & Patient Experience Always ensure exceptional client service by addressing client questions, feedback, or concerns professionally and empathetically. Ensure exceptional communication with referral veterinarians and staff. Provide client education and compassionate support to pet owners during stressful times. Administer medications, injections, and treatments as directed by veterinarians. Monitor patients under sedation and anesthesia and provide post-operative care. Perform diagnostic testing including but not limited to bloodwork, radiographs and urinalysis. Assist veterinarians with exams, procedures, and medical record documentation. Operations & Efficiency Manage daily workflow, ensuring efficiency and readiness for walk-in and scheduled cases. Monitor and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment. Oversee cleanliness, safety, and organization of all clinical areas. Follow all OSHA guidelines. Operate and maintain medical equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasound, and laboratory analyzers. Utilize progressive, technology driven flow to ensure efficiency from patient check-in to discharge. Maintain accurate and secure medical records and patient histories within ezyVet. Coordinate with vendors as needed. Assist with hospital marketing and events as needed.Qualifications:
Required:
Valid and current certification as a New Hampshire Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT). Minimum of 5 years of clinical veterinary experience. Excellent communication, multitasking, organizational and customer service skills. Strong technical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well as part of a fast-paced team and independently as needed. Able to pass a criminal background check for controlled substance handling. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.Preferred:
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience in urgent care or emergency veterinary settings. Familiarity with veterinary software (EzyVet or similar). Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating schedule.Pay:
