Veterinary Hospital Inventory Manager 229 10th Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302 From $23 an hour - Part-time From $23 an hour - Part-time Overview Join our dynamic veterinary hospital team as an Inventory Manager, where you will lead the procurement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment essential for delivering exceptional animal care. This vital role combines strategic supply chain management with hands-on hospital operations to ensure seamless inventory flow, optimize costs, and support our veterinary professionals in providing top-tier services. Duties Oversee end-to-end inventory management processes, including stock replenishment, order fulfillment, and stock rotation to maintain optimal levels of supplies and pharmaceuticals. Complete a minimum of once-weekly inventory checks for all supplies for the practice: Medical Including dental and surgical Office Including all supplies utilized at the front desk, and throughout the hospital, outside for clerical duties Personnel Toiletries, laundry products, etc. Place orders after inventory checks, as deemed necessary, based on the minimum inventory counts established by management/owners after weekly inventory checks for all items mentioned above Controlled substances Schedule III-IV (Schedule II will continue to be purchased by Practice Owners) The Director of Nursing will track inventory and advise on ordering needs (no RepleniTrac access) Create, utilize, and maintain master inventory sheets that notate the following: Product Buying preference (i.e., manufacturer, distributor, etc) Minimum inventory counts Location for storage in the hospital Place orders for O2 delivery as replacement tanks are needed (report to Director of Nursing) Place orders for sharps disposal service as needed (report to Director of Nursing) Coordinate dosimetry badges (report to the Director of Nursing) Maintain an updated list of employees in Myradcare Coordinate collection and return quarterly Add employees when hired Remove employees when departed Place orders for/audit inventory of surgical recovery suits as needed (report to PM) Maintain active lot numbers for vaccines within Vetspire (report to Director of Nursing) Add new lot numbers when inventory is received Audit lot numbers to remove any if needed Manage returns for credits/refunds (report to Practice Owner) Expired, damaged, unused inventory Idexx clips that fail and require speaking with our account rep to acquire refunds Monitor the inventory email account Update Vetspire with new products Implement individual pricing changes Be the point person on new products for staff questions Collaborate with the practice owner team to update staff on new product arrivals Review and implement annual price increases within Vetspire Under the direction of Practice Owners This will require small amounts of work outside of business hours to facilitate updating pricing in Vetspire at times that will not disrupt daily operations. Train an inventory assistant who can maintain basic hospital inventory needs whenever the Inventory Manager is OOO Goals for growth in this position: Become the contact for all vendors Filter through new products, promotions, updates, etc Send to practice owners for consideration when applicable Qualifications Proven experience in supply chain management within a warehouse or distribution environment; veterinary or healthcare experience is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Outstanding interpersonal communication and the ability to work in a team environment or independently Possible exposure to animal bites and/or interspecies communicable diseases Basic computer skills Basic phone skills Strong time management skills Basic understanding of GAAP, budgeting strategies, and LIFO stocking techniques Intermediate veterinary medical, technical, and general inventory knowledge Physical stamina and ability to work 9+ hour shifts on feet, lift, stand, squat, etc for long periods Physical ability to perform heavy lifting [max 40 pounds] when necessary and adhere to safety protocols during warehouse activities.
