July 6, 2026 About the Practice Uzoma Behavioral Health is a private practice that provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients in a hybrid setting, as well as medical-legal evaluations for the California workers' compensation system. Position Summary The Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, financial performance, and administrative oversight of a growing outpatient psychiatry practice. This role ensures the delivery of exceptional patient care by maintaining efficient workflows, supporting clinical staff, optimizing technology and systems, and fostering a positive, patient-centered culture. The ideal candidate combines strong operational and leadership skills with an understanding of behavioral healthcare, healthcare compliance, and modern medical practice management. Practice Operations Oversee daily clinic operations to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality service. Develop, implement, and refine office policies and procedures. Monitor operational metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and implement process enhancements. Coordinate office logistics, supplies, equipment maintenance, and vendor relationships. Ensure the practice maintains a welcoming, professional, and therapeutic environment. Staff Leadership & Human Resources Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise administrative and support staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and exceptional customer service. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and professional development. Manage staff schedules, time-off requests, and coverage planning. Collaborate with providers to address operational challenges and improve workflow. Patient Experience Ensure a high standard of patient satisfaction throughout the intake, scheduling, treatment, and billing processes. Resolve patient concerns and service issues promptly and professionally. Monitor patient feedback and implement quality improvement initiatives. Oversee front desk operations, appointment scheduling, and communication systems. Financial Management Monitor revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, insurance verification, and claims management. Review key financial indicators, including accounts receivable, provider productivity, no-show rates, and collection ratios. Assist with budget preparation and expense management. Work closely with external billing companies, accountants, and vendors as needed. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations. Maintain policies and procedures related to patient privacy and information security. Technology & Systems Management Serve as the primary administrative contact for the Electronic Health Record (EHR), practice management software, telepsychiatry platforms, and other operational technologies. Partner with IT vendors to troubleshoot and optimize systems. Lead implementation of new technologies that improve efficiency and patient care. Strategic Growth Support practice expansion initiatives, including provider onboarding, new service lines, and marketing efforts. Analyze operational data and develop recommendations to improve profitability and patient access. Participate in strategic planning with practice leadership. Qualifications (Required) Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of healthcare practice management or medical office leadership experience. Experience managing staff, budgets, and healthcare operations. Strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance processes, and revenue cycle management. Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare regulatory requirements. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency with EHR and practice management systems (e.g. SimplePractice). Ability to work from the Walnut Creek location 3 days per week. Qualifications (Preferred) Experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or outpatient specialty medical practices. Certification such as Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) or equivalent. Experience with telehealth operations and behavioral health workflows. Previous experience working in the California workers' compensation system.
