TITLE Med Staff Services Manager
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Beaufort Memorial, a not-for-profit hospital founded in 1944 on the banks of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, is licensed for 201 beds (169 acute, 14 rehabilitation and 18 mental health). We are an acute-care hospital, a regional referral center and the largest medical facility between Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, Beaufort Memorial boasts a dedicated, high-quality medical staff of nearly 230 board-certified or board-eligible providers. DESCRIPTION
Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer the Medical Staff Services Manager is responsible for management and coordination of any and all duties and services of the Medical Staff Office, including but not limited to supervision, training, coordination, delegation, performance management and assessment of direct reports in the execution of provider credentialing and reappointments as well as peer review and medical staff performance improvement. The Manager will interact in-person via email and/or telephone with a variety of internal and external colleagues in the process of credentialing and re-credentialing applications and renewals for all providers. Other duties include supervision of applications, preparation of verification letters. Ensure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory requirements while supporting medical staff leadership and organizational strategy. The Medical Staff Services Manager will serve as back-up for all responsibilities of support staff and will perform any and all other appropriately assigned duties from the CMO and/or any other leader.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelors' Degree from an accredited school with major in healthcare-related, legal, or business-related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum three years of direct applicable experience in healthcare credentialing or medical staff in healthcare setting required (i.e., healthcare facility, managed care facility, credentials verification organization or medical staff office), paralegal in a law office, and or related management experience working with providers. Any combination of education and experience that equates to High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience in credentialing, medical staff, and/or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (hospital, managed care facility, credentials verification organization, medical staff office, clinic practice, etc.) or law office.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
Experience with credentialing accreditation by joint commission or national committee for quality assurance preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of the healthcare and credentialing industry, including medical-legal issues and laws, regulatory agencies and other national standards preferred. Regulatory Expertise ; Attention to Detail Leadership and Team Management Communication and Collaboration Organizational and Analytical Skills Familiarity with medical records navigation (Meditech, Athena preferred) Familiarity with Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging Software Systems (preferred)
CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES
CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) preferred. CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Services Management) preferred
