BASIN DISTRICT / MOJAVE/RED ROCK/ONYX RANCH SECTOR / NEGOTIABLE WITHIN THE MOJAVE SECTOR
The reporting location for this position is Negotiable within the Mojave Sector in CA. This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Superintendent III. The State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) is responsible for the visitor services, public safety and law enforcement functions of the Mojave, Red Rock, and Onyx Ranch Sectors. The State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) serves as a working supervisor responsible to ensure efficient, effective and comprehensive visitor services operations while performing safety and enforcement, patrol, interpretation, resource protection/management, and effective visitor facility operation. Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to appointment. Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in
CCR 599.962.
Employees who work to support State Vehicle Recreation Areas (SVRA) utilize the OHV Trust Fund and are responsible for appropriate use of the fund and to help ensure program transparency, accountability, and compliance (TAC) goals are met. Patrol by 4x4, ATV, Motorcycle, etc. in an off-road environment for extended periods of time over difficult terrain. Wear the required peace officer protective equipment. Wear required OHV Safety Equipment as required per policy. Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Work environments may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperature, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. May involve exposure to aggressive visitors. Work outdoors in various types of weather; work in unpleasant conditions (e.g., bad weather, around raw sewage, vomit, blood).
