Staff Full Time Job Description The Animal Care Supervisor serves as the main point of contact for students participating in animal care responsibilities and assists in ensuring that animal care is completed in a safe, humane, professional, and compliant manner. This position involves oversight of canine, feline, and laboratory animal care in support of the Veterinary Medical Technology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programs. Job Duties
Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and the community at large
Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
Assist designated faculty in providing clinical, laboratory, and animal care experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner
Supervise students under the direction of designated faculty while students learn animal care, veterinary technology skills, clinical skills, and entry-level professional responsibilities
Maintain records and evaluations of students for activities completed during animal care, laboratory, and clinical experiences
Assist with completion of required institutional, program accreditation, regulatory, and operational reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University, the Veterinary Medical Technology program, and related DVM program activities
Maintain USDA reports, animal identification records, animal care records, and other required documentation in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act, Animal Welfare Regulations, institutional policies, and program expectations
Order supplies for animal care, laboratories, and clinical skills activities
Manage Veterinary Health Science, Veterinary Medical Technology, and assigned DVM student worker schedules and time cards, as applicable
Maintain responsibility for OSHA compliance within assigned animal care and instructional areas
Organize and schedule student animal care rotations, evaluate students on animal care shifts, and supervise animal care for VMT students and DVM students participating in assigned animal care activities
Assist in laboratories and clinical skills activities as needed for the Veterinary Medical Technology program and DVM program
Assist with student organization activities as needed
Support collaboration between VMT and DVM students during shared animal care, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences
Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students regarding animal care expectations, scheduling, compliance, and student responsibilities
Assist with maintaining clean, safe, and organized animal care and laboratory areas in accordance with institutional, regulatory, and program standards
