Full Job Description Description:
Position Summary The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the veterinary technician team while ensuring exceptional patient care, operational efficiency, and a collaborative work environment. This role combines leadership, coaching, staff development, scheduling, and operational oversight with a commitment to high-quality patient care. While a veterinary background is strongly preferred , we welcome experienced supervisors and leaders from other healthcare, animal care, or service industries who have demonstrated success leading teams, improving operations, and fostering employee development. We are committed to providing industry-specific training for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Supervise, mentor, coach, and support a team of veterinary technicians and assistants. Develop staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient workflow. Train, onboard, and evaluate team members while promoting professional growth and accountability. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing work environment. Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards. Partner with veterinarians and hospital leadership to improve workflows and operational efficiency. Assist with inventory management, equipment oversight, and resource planning. Address employee performance concerns through coaching, feedback, and corrective action when appropriate. Promote exceptional client service and patient care standards. Support change management initiatives and continuous process improvement.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Three (3) or more years of supervisory or leadership experience with responsibility for coaching, scheduling, performance management, and team development. Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Strong organizational, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail. Proficiency with scheduling, Microsoft Office, and business software. Preferred Qualifications Veterinary technician experience or a background in veterinary medicine is strongly preferred. Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) is preferred but not required. Three (3) or more years of experience working in a veterinary hospital or animal healthcare setting. Experience supervising veterinary technicians or clinical support staff. Leadership experience in healthcare, animal care, or other clinical environments is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary. Comfortable working around animals of varying sizes and temperaments. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
