Pay Rate:
: $21 on w2 without benefits Position Summary Maricopa County is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Medical Records Specialist to support clinical services operations. This role serves as an important point of contact for patients by assisting with registration, collecting payments, preparing and maintaining electronic medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA requirements. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, maintain accurate documentation, and support efficient healthcare operations in a clinical environment. Key Responsibilities Register patients and verify demographic and eligibility information. Collect and process patient payments and maintain accurate transaction records. Create, update, organize, and maintain electronic medical records. Ensure medical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with HIPAA regulations. Gather patient information and enter data into electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Assist patients with questions and provide professional customer service. Maintain confidentiality of patient health information and follow privacy guidelines. Review records for accuracy and completeness. Support clinic administrative operations as needed. Coordinate with healthcare staff to ensure timely access to patient information. Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and record management activities. Follow department policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 6 months of experience registering patients in an electronic medical records system within a healthcare setting.
Experience with:
Patient registration Medical records management HIPAA compliance Data entry Customer service Computer applications Preferred Qualifications Experience working in: Healthcare clinics Public health environments Medical offices Community health organizations Experience collecting payments or handling cash transactions. Experience gathering patient data and creating medical records. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred. Public Health or Community Health Worker certification or related coursework preferred. Required Skills Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) HIPAA Compliance Patient Registration Medical Documentation Data Entry Customer Service Records Management Computer Skills Payment Processing Attention to Detail Additional Requirements Must successfully complete a background check. Must obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license.
