Our team is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care in a collaborative environment that emphasizes minimally invasive procedures and pain management. Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Patient Registration and Medical Records Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of medical procedures ina an ASC setting. This role involves managing patient registration processes, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting the administrative functions necessary for efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Greet and interact with patients and patients' families presenting on the day of surgery in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. Check in patients for scheduled surgical procedures. Obtain all required information to complete patient registration and enter information accurately into the system. Verify patient demographic and insurance information for billing purposes. Obtain, upload, and maintain required insurance documents, identification, authorizations, referrals, and other necessary registration documentation. Obtain authorizations and verifications for services and enter information into the system. Collect pre-surgery estimated patient responsibility, including copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and other patient balances. Post payments, record collections, complete deposit logs, and prepare deposits according to facility procedures. Reconcile daily patient payments and deposits in accordance with facility procedures. Answer telephone calls, respond to questions, and return calls in a courteous and timely manner. Communicate operative reports daily to appropriate physician offices. Compile documentation needed to fully complete patient medical records. Follow up and communicate directly with transcription companies, physicians, pathology labs, and physician offices to obtain dictation, reports, and required documentation for each surgical case. Assemble and prepare charts for upcoming procedures, including nursing documentation, registration forms, insurance documentation, authorizations, and other required paperwork. Prepare charts for the next day's cases and ensure all required documentation is present and organized. Scan, copy, index, file, maintain, store, retrieve, and distribute medical records according to facility policies and procedures. Maintain the medical records room, including filing charts that have gone through the QA process and boxing/sending records to storage in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Respond to medical record requests in accordance with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable federal and state regulations. Maintain confidentiality of patient, physician, employee, and facility information in accordance with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable federal and state regulations. Assist and provide backup support to other business office positions as needed. Maintain paper medical records in accordance with facility record retention policies and applicable federal and state regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned or requested. Experience High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience required. Previous healthcare, ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or medical office experience preferred. Experience with patient registration, insurance verification, medical records, healthcare billing, or related business office functions preferred. Experience assembling, filing, maintaining, storing, and retrieving paper medical records preferred. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with ambulatory surgery center software and patient accounting systems preferred. Ability to accurately enter and retrieve patient information within facility computer systems. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including scanners, copiers, fax machines, and multi-line telephone systems.

From $18.00 per hour
