Release of Information Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

Release of Information Specialists are responsible for processing outgoing release of information requests for patients, attorneys, insurances and other doctors offices. Routes all incoming faxes to the correct departments and files processed faxes. Processes outgoing mail and applies the correct postage and tracking based on the request.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Works with supervisor to meet regulatory laws on records request timeframes. Ensures sufficient postage is attached to the outgoing records. Routes all incoming faxes to the correct departments and files processed faxes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND

ABILITIES

) EMR knowledge. Basic knowledge of multi-line phone systems, computers and fax/copy machines. 1-2 years release of information experience in a medical practice or office environment. Excellent customer service. Ability and motivation to work independently. Ability to remain calm while working under pressure in a busy environment. Medical terminology. Use of postage meters, fax portals, printers and scanners.
