  • Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for obtaining the authorizations for Interventional Pain Procedures ensuring timely approval from insurance providers to facilitate seamless patient care. Your expertise in health insurance policies, medical coding, and electronic health records will be instrumental in coordinating authorizations efficiently and accurately. Responsibilities Review patient medical records and clinical documentation to determine insurance authorization requirements. Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using electronic health record (EHR) systems and managed care portals. Prepare and submit authorization requests for outpatient procedures, diagnostic tests, and treatments in accordance with health insurance policies. Communicate proactively with insurance companies to follow up on authorization status, resolve issues, and obtain approvals. Maintain detailed records of all authorization activities, including documentation of correspondence and approvals within medical records systems. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies when handling sensitive patient information. Collaborate with healthcare providers, billing departments, and patients to facilitate smooth approval processes and address any discrepancies or denials promptly. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office setting or dental office environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical billing procedures. Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision), ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision), and ICD coding standards. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) management systems. Experience verifying insurance benefits, authorizations, and managing insurance claims for various healthcare services. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies such as HIPAA is essential to ensure the privacy and security of patient data. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
