  • Full-time Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates is a progressive family-owned law firm, located in Chicago's Loop, who has represented Illinois' injured for over three generations.
We are passionate about seeking justice for those who have been injured and who may have been previously denied representation. We are seeking to fill the role of Medical Records & Billing at our Firm. About the Role Medical Records & Billing is responsible for obtaining, analyzing, and documenting our clients' medical records and bills in preparation for trial or settlement of the case. The ideal candidate for this role will contribute to a high team morale with excellent communication and organizational skills, is inquisitive and detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment. Duties and Responsibilities Include the following, but are not limited to: Act as the dedicated medical point of contact for clients, fostering trust while gathering comprehensive medical treatment information and dates of service Assess and analyze medical records and bills for accuracy, identifying gaps and inconsistencies to ensure all case documentation is complete and accurate Investigate discrepancies and take ownership of locating missing information, verifying accuracy, and ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly Organize medical indexes, verify and enter billing data in case management system, and accurately update and maintain case files Correspond with clients to ensure all ongoing medical treatments are accurately documented and the appropriate records and bills are requested and obtained in a timely manner Proactively follow up and escalate outstanding requests to resolve issues quickly and prevent delays and ensure uninterrupted case progress Adhere to deadlines by maintaining case calendars and prioritizing tasks to meet critical deadlines Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors/providers Review and process incoming invoices in a timely manner Success Factors / Qualifications HS Diploma or GED equivalent
Required:
Minimum 1-year experience working with medical records and bills Exposure to Personal Injury Law and/or Workers Compensation is a plus Experience in medical coding and billing Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance is a plus Able to work both independently and contribute to a positive team environment Self-motivated and goal-driven Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Ability to investigate discrepancies in medical records and billing to ensure accuracy Effective written and verbal communication skills Superior attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills Commitment to providing outstanding customer service Salary & Benefits Compensation range is $43,000
