Job Description

Medical Records Clerk Fall River Health Services - Hot Springs, SD Position Summary Fall River Health Services is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining patient medical records in accordance with facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and industry standards. The Medical Records Clerk supports the multidisciplinary care team by ensuring clinical records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained throughout a patient's care journey. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect medical documentation from departments daily for scanning and filing. Scan and upload paper documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Review records to ensure required signatures and documentation are complete and appropriately filed. Maintain and update electronic forms, policies, procedures, and other facility records to ensure consistency and accuracy. Process patient health information requests in accordance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies. Assist with insurance company audit requests and record retrieval. Maintain, update, and organize patient health information records according to established procedures. Manage patient records from admission through discharge. Maintain medical records supplies and provide telephone support as needed. Scan, archive, or destroy records according to retention schedules and medical records policies. Provide excellent customer service while working collaboratively with staff, patients, and external partners. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in medical records, healthcare administration, or office support preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficient computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems. Excellent communication and customer service skills. The average salary for this position is $16.19-$19.30 per hour . Starting pay is based on qualifications and experience, with candidates who have more than five years of relevant experience eligible for higher compensation.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
High school diploma or equivalency. Prior medical records experience and medical terminology preferred Fall River Health Services (FRHS) is a comprehensive healthcare system, which services Fall River County and the surrounding areas in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota .
