Job Description Summary:
Responsible for performing receptionist, clerical, and scheduling duties. Inputs pre-admit patients in the tracking system. Responsible for the accurate collection of patient information in the scheduling system. Under the direct supervision of the pre-admit manager; responsible for assigned shift 5 days a week. This is a very detailed job, which includes the use of computers and many handwriting capabilities along with the ability to multi-task. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Monitors and schedules pre-admit and pre-op visits and coordinates admission with other departments. Responsible for inputting patients in the tracking system as they enter the pre-op clinic and notifying the PAT nurse that patient has arrived when able to. Prints a chart for each patient as PAT appointment has been made. Utilizes the PAT CRS View in the Perioperative Tracker to schedule patients and makes necessary comments. Checks surgery schedule throughout the day and prints charts for phone PAT for patients who have been added on 72 hours out. Answers telephone and appropriate pages and relays information to appropriate team members and schedules appointments for office visits. Acts as receptionist for the unit provides information and assistance for all hospital personnel, physicians, patients, and visitors. Prepares and obtains unit supply orders as necessary. Recognizes the value of continued occupational growth and development. Responsible for documenting fire alarms on the appropriate form. Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment without being easily distracted. Must be able to communicate with many different situations at once. Performs daily duties. Works well with other members of the PAT team. May be responsible for other duties as deemed necessary by the manager. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Ability to read, write legibly, perform basic mathematical calculations as acquired with a high school education. Clerical training preferred but not required Knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations is preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION
BLS Certification is preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE
One year clerical experience in a health care environment
