Job Description

Generations ObGyn has an opening for an experienced Medical Records Specialist. Generations is a fast - paced, busy office and we are seeking a motivated, energetic, and positive individual. EMR experience required. The person in this position will utilize Athena software system to scan documents into patient charts in a timely manner. The Medical Record Specialist is responsible for processing all release of information, postal correspondence, scanning paper charts to electronic medical record and routing patient documents via-fax, email, to appropriate physicians and or office staff member. The Medical Record Specialist works closely with physicians and clinical staff. The Medical Record Specialist must at all times safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all release of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations. Candidate must be able to recognize and appropriately label various patient record components, including ultra-sound testing, lab work, and pathology reports They should provide excellent customer service to patients and clinic staff by answering questions, answering phones, assist with special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Accurately handles and scans the electronic filing of documents into the EMR Handles phone calls relating to medical records Distributes documents to the appropriate physician for signature Prepares and distributes mail Follows all HIPAA protocols Displays excellent customer service skills Displays excellent communication skills and is able to interact well with a diverse population of patients, physicians and other staff members Ability to work in a team environment Willingness and ability to perform front office responsibilities as needed Other responsibilities as determined by the scope of the practice Full Time, M-F, Excellent benefit package with great working environment and team.
