We are seeking a Medical Records/Supply Clerk to join our long-term care facility and skilled nursing department. The ideal candidate will support the Director of Nursing in managing daily nursing operations, maintaining high standards of care, and mentoring nursing staff to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Job Description:
A long-term care retirement community located in Birmingham seeks a dedicated and industrious Medical Records and Supply Clerk. The ideal candidate should have previous medical records, medical supply, medical terminology, general clerical, inventory control and record keeping experience, preferably in a nursing home setting. Must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and must have strong Microsoft Office skills to include Word and Excel. A Medical Records Supply Clerk in a nursing home manages patient health information and oversees facility inventory. They ensure charts are compliant and confidential, while maintaining medical supply levels for daily floor operations.
Key Responsibilities Medical Records:
Organize and maintain patient charts. Process admission and discharge records. Scan, file, and audit charts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Confidentiality:
Protect all residents' Protected Health Information (PHI) according to HIPAA and facility privacy policies.
Supply Inventory:
Collect supply requisitions from nursing floors. Order, receive, and securely store medical and facility supplies.
Coordination:
Provide the nursing department with necessary forms, charts, and documents. Process incoming and outgoing record requests. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent Preferably Certified Nursing Assistant Prior clerical, medical records, or inventory experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting strongly preferred Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and personnel information systems Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time Excellent written and verbal communication skills
