In person Position Overview The Coding Manager is responsible for overseeing coding staff, workflows, compliance initiatives, quality assurance activities, and revenue cycle support to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant coding practices. The Coding Manager serves as a strategic partner to clinical, operational, and revenue cycle leadership, driving process improvements, staff development, and operational excellence while maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting organizational financial goals. The ideal candidate is an experienced coding professional with strong leadership skills, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to continuous improvement, quality outcomes, and employee engagement. Job Responsibilities Assist with the day-to-day oversight of coding staff, including establishing staff schedules, coordinating deployment, reviewing time records, and providing feedback to supervisors/coordinators on coder performance. Monitor coding work queues and allocate coders to areas of greatest need to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. Oversee coding operations related to workflows and reporting: evaluate current processes to maximize efficiency, troubleshoot work queue issues (e.g., accounts or charges not flowing properly), and recommend improvements as needed. Maintain up-to-date documentation of all workflows. Serve as a resource for coders, CDI staff, clinical teams, and Revenue Cycle personnel by answering questions related to charging, coding, Epic, and other relevant applications. Review and reconcile missed charge reports and maintain all encounter documentation. Act as a primary point of contact for Epic and other application teams regarding system testing, maintenance, and charge-related issues. Communicate system errors or missed charges to appropriate technical or operational teams. Create and distribute the coding tip newsletter to relevant stakeholders. Assist with educational in-services for physicians, providers, and clinical staff regarding documentation, coding standards, and charging guidelines. Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal coding guidelines and collaborate with departments/teams to ensure required documentation is available for coding. Conduct research, run reports, and provide general coding support as needed or requested Develop and implement coding education to a wide and diverse audience from medical providers, qualified healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and revenue cycle personnel Required Qualifications CPC certified CPMA preferred 5-7 years of coding experience 1-2 years of supervisory experience Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
