Job Description

JOB DUTIES
Organizes, plans and responds in the day-to-day operations of the department including scheduling, complaints, concerns, questions and problems. Reports on review of records for accuracy, completeness, timeliness and compliance with accepted standards. Evaluates, writes and revises departmental policies and procedures, performance appraisals and job descriptions. Collects, analyses, prioritizes, and reports on all Departmental functions in relation to the maintenance and function of various computer systems including the Meditech system, Data dictionaries, entry, maintenance, accuracy, retrieval of data, incomplete chart processing, chart locator and data integrity. Develops goals and priorities for functions within the Department. Reports on the progress in relation to those goals and priorities to Administration and various Medical Staff functions. Prepares and monitors Capital and Operational budgets for all Departmental functions. Evaluates, selects or recommends, and procures personnel and technology for the Department. Act as a liaison with other departments, physicians and Administration. Is knowledgeable regarding various accrediting and certifying bodies (JCAHO, DNV, DOH, etc.) and their rules, regulations and standards. Monitors and reports compliance with those standards and regulations. Coordinates response to coding denials including denial tracking and reporting of trends and results.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Must be graduate of an Accredited Medical Record Technician or Medical Record Administrator program. A minimum of 3 years' managerial experience required.
