5141444 The Health Information Technician will primarily support the release of information function for SIU Medicine, within the Office of Compliance and Ethics. The position will assist in facilitating the flow of information and managing processes related to release of information with SIU Medicine's vendor partner. The following information is intended to be representative of the work performed by incumbent in this position and is not all-inclusive. Administration:
100% Coordinates and facilitates release of information correspondence with SIU release of information vendor or other responsible party. Monitors release of information activities completed by and on behalf of SIU Medicine for accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Evaluate potential barriers to timely release of information and escalate with SIU operational leaders as needed. Review and filter miscellaneous correspondence to appropriate clinical teams. Fosters communication and maintains relationship with SIU release of information vendor. Investigates and resolves concerns related to release of information requests as needed. Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer Any one or combination totaling eighteen months (18 months) from the categories below: coursework in a health-related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) 60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals eighteen months (18 months) work experience in the preparation and/or maintenance of medical records in a health care facility or program. Based on institutional requirements, a current/valid registration and certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) and/or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's) Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of technology including electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, and their applications. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, data entry, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Ability to work independently and effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to analyze, interpret, and explain work related documents, policies, and procedures. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Condition of Employment Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, an out-of-state resident who is hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date .
