Job Description

Position Summary:
Performs a variety of technical and clerical functions in the Health Information Record Processing department in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Performs Release of Information to authorized individuals/entities both internal and external in accordance with HIPAA and NRH policy. Responsible for assuring that records are routed to appropriate physicians for completion. Timely and accurate statistical reporting for the HIM Department and organization. Insuring that scanning and indexing of the medical records documents occurs in a timely and accurate manner. Essential Functions/Job Duties Abstracting Data Elements Admission and Discharge Processing and Reconciliation Release of information Deficiency Analysis Document preparation, Indexing, Imaging/Scanning, and Quality Control Master Patient Index maintenance including but not limited to duplicate record analysis Monitor unsigned reports and missing reports Collects the necessary documents, data, and information for the correct completion of birth certificates and/or Acknowledgment of Paternity Review mother's chart to identify relevant necessary information Review completed forms for accuracy ensuring all information is correct and gather signatures for legal forms Enter relevant information into appropriate computer software programs Collaborate with nursing staff as needed Face-to-face interaction with parents Skills & Abilities High School graduate or GED required One year of Hospital, Medical Clinic, or Health Care setting experience preferred Experience in Health Information Management department preferred At NRHMP, we want to ensure your needs are met.
