Job description: Health Information Management Specialist (HIM Specialist) (On-Site)
HIM Specialist Job Summary:
The HIM Specialist processes all facility and clinic records, analyze and identify documentation deficiencies and to assign deficiencies to appropriate personnel for completion. Responsible for releasing patient records in accordance with hospital policy and HIPAA guidelines. Other duties as assigned.

HIM Specialist Essential Accountabilities:
Collects, processes and scans all facility and/or clinic paper records Analyzes records for completeness Assigns documentation deficiencies when necessary. Displays accountability and consistency on outstanding, incomplete records. Works in conjunction with facility departments to streamline record collection and completion processes for all documents, registries, reports, etc. Releases PHI in accordance with hospital policy and HIPAA guidelines Remains up to date on HIPAA updates and privacy laws
HIM Specialist Department Specific Accountabilities:
Complete department daily checklist including but not limited to pre-registrations, registration file maintenance and others as needed. Scan all required documents into patient's electronic medical record (includes consent forms, IDs, insurance cards, etc.) Daily petty cash reconciliation
HIM Specialist Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or its educational equivalent required and one year of experience preferred. Capability to sit and work with a computer for extended periods. medical office experience preferred, preferred knowledge with application CPSI. Successful applicants will be self-motivated and able to work well both unsupervised and part of a team. Exemplifies excellent communication skills verbally and through electronic communication channels.
