Health Information Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Health Information Technician to join our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and organizing medical records and ensuring the accuracy and security of patient information.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily scanning of documentation originating from mail and various clinical areas.
• Receive and process inbound imaging reports from fax inbox, printed formats, or scanned documents and linking them to the correct patient electronic chart with a maximum timeframe of 72 hours.
• Create new patient orders when none exist and attach corresponding reports, ensuring that documentation is properly filed under the provider's order section for review.
• Maintain oversight of the order/report linking process to preserve provider accessibility and documentation integrity.
• Participate in weekly meetings with the department and supervisor to address workflow challenges and introduce updated document categorization practices.
• Assist with coverage of the Fax Inbox and ROI whenever applicable.
• Organize and sort physical mail that comes into the facility from all locations.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
• Familiarity with medical records systems and electronic health records
• Knowledge of medical terminology
