- Full-time Join Hometown Health Centers Hometown Health Centers is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Health Information & Privacy Specialist to oversee the integrity, security, and management of patient health information across our organization.
This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional who is passionate about privacy, compliance, medical records, and process improvement. In this role, you will serve as Hometown's designated HIPAA Privacy Officer, while managing medical records operations, Release of Information (ROI) requests, and quality oversight of automated document management workflows. What You'll Do Serve as the organization's designated HIPAA Privacy Officer. Manage medical records operations and patient requests for health information. Process and oversee Release of Information (ROI) requests in accordance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements. Monitor document management workflows and resolve exceptions generated through automated document processing systems. Review and validate patient matching, document indexing, and workflow discrepancies. Investigate potential privacy incidents and support compliance activities. Conduct audits and quality reviews to ensure the accuracy and integrity of patient records. Collaborate with clinical, operational, compliance, and technology teams to improve workflows and patient information management. Minimum Qualification Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in health information management, medical records, healthcare operations, or a related healthcare environment. Experience with Electronic Health Records and document management systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, privacy compliance, and Release of Information processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential. Experience serving as a HIPAA Privacy Officer or supporting privacy compliance programs.
