MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain, organize, and secure patient records (electronic and/or paper) in accordance with agency policy Obtain prior treatment records from outside agencies Prepare requests for audits, inspections, and accreditation reviews Ensure all printed documentation for submission is reviewed, signed, and organized in chronological order Cross check Electronic Health Records (EHR) with hard copy documents to ensure completeness Assist in quality record reviews Serves as Keeper of the Records; processing and review of charts for subpoena requests from lawyers, insurance companies and other governmental agencies As required, testify in court to affirm that a patient's medical record is complete and was compiled within the normal course of business Assist authorized personnel in locating charts, reports and other information Scan, upload, and index documents into the EHR system Consults with IT department on any changes in EHR or reporting systems Maintain logs for record requests, releases, and disclosures Assist with data tracking and reporting as needed Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Certification required Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or substance use treatment setting preferred Thorough knowledge of office practices Working knowledge of medical records keeping principles, practices and procedures involving the collection, cataloguing, and filing of medical information Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2, strongly preferred) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadline Codac Behavioral Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer.
