POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Health Information Management (HIM) Manager, and Team Lead, the Health Information Specialist II performs specialized health information duties necessary to organize, maintain and use the electronic health record consistent with the health record policies and standards. Performs assigned duties at an advance level of a Health Information Specialist I. Follows strict confidential guidelines. Complies with all Federal and State regulations, bylaws, and accrediting bodies including but not limited to HIPAA and Joint Commission. Contributes to the overall success of the Health Information Management team.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field (business, healthcare, etc.) strongly preferred. Two years of health care experience in a health care environment with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is required. One year of strong customer service experience required. Experience in a large health care facility is preferred.
