Job Description
Position Purpose Medical Records Technicians communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to implement and ensure correct and timely serological testing for cornea and tissue donors and support all other areas of medical review operations to ensure that all Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and Lions World Vision Institute (LWVI) standards are met prior to distribution of cornea tissue for transplant, research, and/or medical education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform laboratory functions related to donor screening including blood specimen processing and logging in donor tissue and blood samples. Coordinate and perform package pick up and deliveries as necessary. Complete serology triage and blood shipment accessioning/packaging as necessary. Perform preliminary QC review of all relevant donor paperwork and conduct necessary followup as needed. Perform necessary communication with eye, tissue, and organ partners regarding followup items and serology testing. Collaborate positively and effectively with donation partners to coordinate joint recovery, processing, and infectious disease testing activities. Track and complete autopsy/pathology result followup for applicable donor records. Performs other projects and duties as assigned. Support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lions World Vision Institute in all daily activities. Must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed. Schedule 4 days x 10 hr shifts (one weekend day required)
Wage Range:
$25.00 - $27.50 per hour Benefits Paid time off with a starting maximum of 144.04 hours per year. 8 Companypaid Holidays per year. An employee may voluntarily designate a percentage of their salary towards employersponsored 401(k). LWVI will match the employee's contribution up to 6% of the employee's salary. Discounts on Pet Insurance and other items such as phone plans, movie tickets, etc. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a health or sciencerelated field strongly preferred. Experience in a healthcarerelated field preferred. Experience in blood draw or blood sample handling preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualified applicants must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver's license, and be eligible to meet the company's driving standards. Excellent attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills. Adapt to change quickly while meeting organizational needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive teamwork environment. Ability to learn and work both independently, and as part of a team. Proficient in working with computers and managing several programs at a time. A personal commitment to eye, organ, and tissue donation is required. Schedule and Travel Travel is minimal. May be occasionally required to travel by personal or company automobile or air to meeting sites and other locations. This position works a schedule of 8 or 10hour shifts and will include weekends and holidays, either on a scheduled or rotating basis. Work Environment The work is performed primarily in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
