Job Description

We are a small clinic open 7 days a week located in SE Alaska. We perform urgent care and primary care to the community. We are seeking to add friendly, helpful and eager candidates to our medical team. Medical assistants provide a variety of technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care services under the supervision of nurses or medical practitioners. • Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to): Taking medical histories Explaining treatment procedures to patients Preparing patients for examinations Assisting the physician during examinations Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens Performing basic laboratory tests Instructing patients about medication and special diets Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant) Transmitting prescription refills as directed Phlebotomy Performing electrocardiograms Wound care and changing dressings Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to): Using computer applications Answering telephones Welcoming patients Updating and filing patient medical records Coding and filling out insurance forms Scheduling appointments Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt •Qualifications/Skills for Medical Assistant High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program preferred Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times Must be detail-oriented and highly organized Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times Creating a safe, effective environment Customer focused and a team player •
Job Type:

$19.00 - $23.00 per hour
