This position is responsible for reviewing patient encounters for coding accuracy, coordinating with our third-party billing company, managing billing-related tasks, and assisting with front office operations to ensure exceptional patient care and efficient practice workflow. The ideal candidate will have medical billing and coding experience, preferably in ophthalmology, strong administrative skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. This is either a full time or part time position •Candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between locations as needed •Duties Perform accurate medical billing using various Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to process claims efficiently. Apply appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) classifications, and
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding standards to ensure precise documentation for billing purposes. Review and verify medical records for completeness and correctness, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and insurance requirements. Collect copays, deductibles, balances, and self-pay fees. Posting and applying payments to correct accounts. Obtained prior authorization for surgery. Scan and upload documents into the electronic medical record system. Assist patients with questions regarding billing, insurance, and appointments. Assist front office operations including patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and answering incoming phone calls.
