Job Description

Our Cardiology office is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our team. The successful candidate will answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, verify medical eligbility and obtain prior authorizations from insurances. We require a highly-organized individual with an attention to detail who is familiar with medical terminology and the ability to work independently. Background with EPIC software is strongly preferred. Hourly pay negotiable based on experience.
Responsibilities:
Answer phone calls, greet patients and provide them with basic information. Schedule patients for appointments through EPIC Fielding and handling patient complaints appropriately. Collect payment from patients including copays and deductible. Provide courtesy appointment reminders over the phone. Verifying insurance and eligbility Obtain prior authorizations Fax or upload records to other providers or insurance companies. Assist patients with paperwork and insurance forms as needed. Be courteous and professional at work and when dealing with others. Bilingual English/Spanish Strongly Preferred.

Obtaining prior authorizations requires a strong understanding of different insurance policies and plans for receiving authorizations in a timely fashion. We greatly value teamwork and we like our employees to be cross trained in other areas so that when someone is sick or absent, there is minimal disruption. Furthermore, it's important to understand the responsibilities of your coworkers to foster better teamwork and communication. While it's important to be able to work independently and it's also important to know when to ask for help or assistance. We all have the same goal at the workplace. Communicating issues early on, helps the office to find a solution before it becomes a larger problem.
